I spent 1 1/2 hours with a reporter, on a human interest story for the newspaper, I hope it generates interest. It helped to have Becky's mom present since she had some initial concerns that other mother's would. When asked why I chose to work with individuals who have developmental rather than physical disabilities I hesitated. I did not want to sound offensive but I am less effective and tolerant with people who have my brand of challenges. I clearly stated that I enjoyed educating people about all disabilities and that there are similar threads regardless of the disability. At this point it's out of my hands.
